Cassidy Lundy Works on Service Projects in Developing Countries

Cassidy Lundy traveled to a small village in Costa Rica with other high school students to tear down an old building and put up a new community center. She’s part of an organization called Walking Tree Travel, which sends young volunteers to developing countries for service projects. The group seeks to inspire people to become global citizens by taking an active interest in the world around them. “It’s important to give back because people were meant to coexist and help other people,” says Cassidy, now a student at the University of California at Berkeley. “Being a global citizen and remembering that your immediate life is not everything that’s out there helps you learn more about yourself and other cultures.”
